Wear clothes that you don't care about because they will get dusty and/or covered in paint. You have to talk to customers and help them find the best products for their project, answer phone calls, stock shelves, the usual retail stuff. The work isn't particularly difficult, though it does put wear and tear on your body since you are expected to lift many heavy objects repeatedly in your shift. There were some rough patches where management made the workplace downright toxic and the stress was so overwhelming that I had to take sick leave because of a condition caused by it. However that's not to say that its completely smooth sailing. My personal experience was overall a good one where I was able to learn and grow as a person and become more comfortable talking to people. WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm - any retail job your experience can vary wildly and is dependent on your store's location and management. ![]()
