The unsub is also treated like an afterthought which goes against the premise of the entire show so it ends up at the bottom of my list. Rossi's entry in the show was very messy due to Gideon's sudden departure & this episode suffers because of it. Other episodes vying for the top spot here were In Name and Blood, Children of the Dark, Seven Seconds, Penelope, True Night, Elephant's Memory & Tabula Rasa. It's got high stakes, clever unsubs who don't drift into unbelievability & the cast has now fully gelled with Rossi making him a complete part of the team. Picking my favorite episode was really tough with all the high quality scripts around but my heart went with Lo-Fi as it may be the best season finale the show produced during its run. Season 3 for me is the best season of the show even though Gideon leaves the show very early on. Keith Carradine deserved a better script than what he was given here. Honor Among Thieves wins this by a landslide as it's the only bad episode of the season by being pedestrian & having little in the way of stakes but I want to give a quick mention to No Way Out II for not sticking the landing for the Paul Breitkopf storyline. Least favorite episode: Honor Among Thieves Other episodes just living under the top for season 2 were North Mammon, Lessons Learned, Profiler Profiled, the two-part The Big Game/Revelations & Open Season. It's also a great episode for Reid, who gets a lot of the great episodes of the show attached to him. Aaron Paul in goth make-up can't save the script from lifelessness & the unsub is obvious as soon as he appears on screen.Ī lot of fantastic episodes in this season but Anton Yelchin's guest performance tips this episode to the top of my favorites list for season 2. Machismo is not great, Secrets and Lies has a twist you can see coming a mile away & Extreme Aggressor is overrated but The Popular Kids is a terrible episode from start to finish. Other episodes that came close were L.D.S.K., Natural Born Killer & Charm and Harm. It has a "Gideon" moment, a lot of actual profiling, a particularly nasty unsub & an ending which promises more for the future. Season 1 for me is a high quality season with plenty of great episodes but The Fox does everything right.
